During preliminary research towards this project we exhibited a rough ‘work in progress’ demonstration of Alter Ego at Kettle’s Yard gallery in Cambridge. For this we used a generic 3D model with a face already texture mapped onto it. The model was taught to mimic some basic expressions: smile, frown and surprise, in real time. Despite the fact that it was very primitive, we were surprised at the extent of audience engagement with this demo. version of the work.
