Recent works include: Opera Interna, a series of digitally manipulated portraits of opera singers that explore the performance of emotion, selected for the International Women Artists’ Biennale, Korea (2007); Cover Story (2008), a video installation that investigates the functions of the human face; and Conversation Piece, an intelligent room that can converse with its occupants, shown at Ormeau Baths Gallery, Belfast as part of ISEA 09.
Alexa teaches at the University of Westminster in London. In 2009 she completed a doctoral thesis entitled 'Out of Order, an Investigation into the Visual Significance of Human Monstrosity'.
